The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), alleging large-scale corruption, illegal club registrations, manipulation of elections and political interference in cricket administration.

Addressing the media in Hyderabad on Monday, TCA general secretary Guruva Reddy claimed that HCA had been witnessing continuous controversies for nearly two decades and alleged that the situation deteriorated further after the 2025 CID arrests of former HCA office-bearers, including ex-president Jagan Mohan Rao.

According to Guruva Reddy, several influential persons within the association and outside it allegedly worked together to fill vacant positions through backdoor methods after the arrests. He accused the present governing structure of bypassing democratic procedures and violating BCCI rules in appointments and administration.

A key allegation made during the press conference concerned the existence of “duplicate” cricket clubs within HCA. Guruva Reddy alleged that Oxford Blues Cricket Club had multiple registrations in different districts and questioned how such registrations were accepted by authorities. He claimed the issue raised serious doubts over the legitimacy of memberships and voting rights within the association.

The TCA leader alleged that certain individuals had entered HCA administration after purchasing club memberships for huge sums of money and claimed cricket administration had gradually turned into a corporate-controlled system rather than a platform for genuine players and cricket development.

He further accused HCA officials of ignoring court-monitored procedures and alleged that appointments, including those of top administrators and committee members, were made without following eligibility norms prescribed under BCCI regulations.

Guruva Reddy also criticised the proposed TG20 League, alleging that it lacked proper approvals and was being used as a commercial venture benefiting private interests. He warned corporate entities and celebrities against associating with the league without conducting proper verification of its legal status and governing structure.

Former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu was also mentioned during the press conference, with Guruva Reddy questioning the composition of committees formed under the current administration. He alleged that several appointments were made based on personal associations rather than cricketing merit or eligibility criteria.

The TCA leader also raised concerns over HCA’s recently announced open cricket selection trials, alleging that the process was impractical and unfair to thousands of aspiring cricketers from Telangana districts. He claimed genuine district players were being ignored while administrative irregularities continued unchecked.

Alleging that repeated complaints to CID, vigilance authorities, BCCI and senior government officials had failed to produce action, Guruva Reddy demanded immediate intervention. He called for a detailed investigation into HCA finances, memberships, club registrations and governance practices.

He further demanded suspension of the current HCA apex council and governing council, cancellation of disputed appointments and seizure of association records for investigation. Warning of legal action, the TCA leader said the association would approach the High Court and Supreme Court if authorities failed to act against the alleged irregularities.
