In a major technology-driven initiative to tackle harmful online content and strengthen cyber intelligence, the Hyderabad City Police has launched “SOCEYE – Social Media Observation and Cyber Intelligence,” an advanced Artificial Intelligence-based platform for social media monitoring, analysis, and investigation.
The new system is aimed at tracking cyber troublemakers, monitoring sensitive online narratives, and identifying posts that could disturb public order. Officials said the initiative reflects the police department’s growing focus on adopting cutting-edge technology and AI-driven policing methods to improve public safety and reduce manual monitoring efforts.
According to police officials, SOCEYE has already shown promising results during its pilot phase. The platform reportedly identified 85 hateful and communally sensitive social media posts linked to the Puranapul X Road incident and another 126 posts related to the Gudimalkapur issue. Authorities initiated timely takedown measures and identified several individuals involved in spreading objectionable content.
The AI-powered system features an integrated dashboard that combines information from Dial-100 calls, intelligence alerts, and ongoing city events to provide real-time situational awareness. It can automatically monitor communal handles, cyberbullying, stalking, narcotics-related content, and women’s safety issues while categorising threats into high, medium, and low-risk levels.
SOCEYE also includes grievance tracking, event-based social media monitoring, and advanced SOCMINT and OSINT investigative tools to support cybercrime probes and preventive policing efforts across the city.
