Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Monday accused the BRS working president and MLA K. T. Rama Rao of running a “malicious campaign” against the BJP out of fear over ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project and Formula E-Race case.
Addressing a preparatory meeting at the BJP state headquarters in Hyderabad, Rao alleged that the BRS was spending crores of rupees on posters, social media campaigns and sections of the media to defame the BJP and its leaders.
Defending Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Rao said seeking anticipatory bail was a legal right and not an act of “fleeing”. He asserted that if any wrongdoing was established, the law would take its course. Raising the issue of Delhi liquor scam he said the BRS leadership did not resign even when serious allegations surfaced in the liquor scam involving KTR's family members.
Rao also targeted the previous BRS regime over crimes against women, citing NCRB data that cases in Telangana rose from 14,147 in 2014 to 23,679 in 2023. He questioned the moral authority of BRS leaders to comment on women’s safety and political ethics.
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming 12 years in office, Rao said BJP workers should actively promote campaigns such as “Mera Bharat–Mera Yogdaan” ( My Country-My Contribution) and “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (One Tree in the Name of Mother). He urged the people to conserve fuel, adopt public transport, encourage electric vehicles and support environmental protection.
Rao said the country was moving towards the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat under Modi’s leadership and called upon the party cadres to take central government schemes to the grassroots.
