Continuing its appeal to secure recognition as a Member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Telangana Cricket Association’s (TCA) has again written to BCCI.  It may be noted that the Supreme Court’s Order dated 9th December 2020 in Civil Appeal No. 4235/2014 and connected matters, and the Bombay High Court’s Orders dated 21st January 2021, the BCCI Working Group issued directions on 11th July 2021, requiring the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) to collaborate with TCA for cricket administration outside BCCI Working Groupwithin the State of Telangana, with compliance mandated within six months.

For years now, TCA has been waging a battle with the authorities at the State to cleanse the alleged corruption that crept into the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).  Dharam Guruva Reddy, Secretary, Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) said, “HCA has deliberately ignored court directions. Despite repeated representations and even during ongoing proceedings before the Bombay High Court—where TCA filed a WP seeking disqualification of HCA as BCCI Member due to its non-competence to BCCI Constitution and to Recognize TCA in its place, the HCA agreed to comply with BCCI’s Order dated 11th July 2021—but no meaningful action has been taken till date, repeatedly ignoring the Compliance.

In the meantime, the cricket season is underway and several youngsters from the State, especially from the districts are at a disadvantage for, the HCA is city centric, stated a member of TCA. TCA’s players continue to suffer irreparable loss, year after year, as they age out of their eligibility for BCCI tournaments, denied their rightful opportunities despite clear judicial and administrative directions in our favor.

Guruva Reddy said, “We request the BCCI to step in and provide a clear update on the action taken on our previous emails& letters sent from 2nd April 2025 till date. Also, immediate steps be taken to ensure TCA’s players are given due opportunities in the upcoming domestic season and furnish us the information sought through our email on 29th August 2025.” He further added, “This is an extremely time-sensitive matter, as the forthcoming BCCI domestic season is imminent. TCA cannot afford another year of injustice, with the young cricketers of Telangana once again left without the fair and rightful platform to represent their state.”
