The Telugu Desam party (TDP) membership touched 93 lakh and is expected to cross a crore soon said the party chief and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here on Wednesday.
Acknowledging the collective effort in membership enrollment, Naidu praised the TDP’s record-breaking achievement. “We have set a national precedent with membership enrollment,” he said, highlighting that the drive, which began on October 26, has already surpassed 93 lakh members and is expected to cross one crore. He lauded party activists for their dedication and announced a referral system to recognize individual contributions to the drive.
He noted that the Rs 5 lakh insurance benefit provided with the Rs 100 membership fee has spurred significant interest, especially in rural areas. Membership numbers in Telangana were also reported to be substantial.
Over the past five years, the party has spent Rs 135 crore on the welfare of its activists, Naidu said, naming top-performing Assembly segments like Palakol, Atmakur, Nellore City, and Mangalagiri. In permanent membership, Mangalagiri led with 112 units, followed by Atmakur with 85 and others. Based on requests from party leaders, the membership enrollment deadline has been extended by 15 days, he announced.
He pledged to finalize all party committees before Mahanadu and assured that positions at the village, mandal, district, and state levels would go to grassroots workers who contributed to the party’s success. “Recognition takes time. Over the past five years, I worked to protect party activists, and now I will ensure they are duly recognized,” Naidu said.
