This was led by TDP National General Secretary and Minister for Education, Nara Lokesh, sets a new benchmark as the first instance of such a welfare scheme by a political party in India.

The MoU was formalized on Thursday with United India Insurance and Pragmatic Insurance Broking Services. The TDP has paid an initial premium of Rs.42 crore, ensuring accidental insurance coverage for its members from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.

Under this scheme, each party activist is entitled to Rs.5 lakh in accidental insurance. The party has committed to renewing the policy with a similar premium next year.

Additionally, a specialized legal wing has been established to address legal cases filed against party workers during the previous administration of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).

A dedicated accident response cell has also been set up at the TDP’s central office to provide immediate assistance to activists in case of emergencies. Furthermore, the NTR Trust has extended its support by establishing residential schools in Hyderabad and Challapalli, Krishna district, offering free education to the children of deceased party workers.

This initiative has been met with widespread appreciation from TDP members across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Many activists have lauded Nara Lokesh’s efforts, describing his commitment to their welfare as akin to caring for family members.
