Teachers’ Federation seeks relief in TET results

The Telangana State United Teachers’ Federation (TSUTF) has urged the government to provide relief to in-service teachers who appeared for the Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) held in January 2026. Results announced on February 10 showed that 1,00,270 candidates qualified, with an overall pass percentage of 51.37. Among in-service teachers, 37,893 cleared the exam, recording a higher pass rate of 57.76 percent compared to 48.14 percent among other candidates.

Despite this, many long-serving teachers, particularly from the General category, could not meet the qualifying marks of 60 percent for General/EWS, 50 percent for BC, and 40 percent for SC/ST/PwD. TSUTF highlighted that these educators faced challenges due to advanced age, decades of service, and the demands of the exam format after a long gap.

The federation cited examples from Bihar and Tamil Nadu, where qualifying marks were reduced to support teachers. It requested Telangana to either lower the minimum qualifying marks to 40 percent for General and BC/OBC and 30 percent for SC/ST/PwD, or grant 5–20 weightage marks based on years of service. TSUTF emphasized that such measures would safeguard livelihoods and morale while maintaining teaching standards.
