Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Wednesday directed the party workers to gear up for an all-out push to secure victory in the upcoming local body elections across the state.BJP chief spokesperson NV Subhash, in a press statement, stated that the state BJP chief through video conference with senior party leaders who included MPs, MLAs, MLCs and former candidates, has instructed the cadre to field BJP candidates for every post - from ward member to sarpanch - across all villages.
Rao asserted that the local body polls must become the 'foundation' for the BJP’s bid for power in the next Assembly elections. He accused the previous BRS government of neglecting gram panchayats and diverting Finance Commission funds, leading to stalled village development and even suicides by sarpanches. He also slammed the Congress government for allegedly not releasing a single rupee to panchayats over the past two years, despite promising six guarantees and 420 commitments during last assembly election.
Rao urged the party workers to highlight the Modi government’s village-focused initiatives - rural roads, PM-KISAN, toilets, employment schemes, street lighting and crematorium development. Union ministers G. Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. K. Laxman and BJP National General Secretary (organisation) Chandrasekhar also joined the video conference meeting.
