Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka stated that Hyderabad will emerge as the future leader in the quantum economy, as it possesses abundant resources such as strong infrastructure and digital skills that are essential for this transformation.
At the launch of NITI Aayog’s roadmap for quantum & Telangana quantum strategy held at IIIT Gachibowli, on Thursday, Bhatti Vikramarka explained that the NITI Aayog Quantum Roadmap is aligned with “Telangana Rising 2047”, the state’s vision to become a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
He said Telangana will become the first state in India to have a dedicated roadmap for quantum technology through the Telangana Quantum Strategy (TQS).
The Deputy Chief Minister said quantum technology will bring faster and deeper transformation across all sectors than any other technology.
"Any nation aspiring for a great future must have a quantum strategy. Quantum will heavily influence national security, economic size, and future growth," he said.
Bhatti Vikramarka stated that Telangana’s quantum strategy, aligned with the National Mission, aims to achieve integrated and future-focused goals in research, skills development, education, infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
"With the launch of TQS, Telangana is announcing to the world its commitment to build India’s most advanced quantum innovation ecosystem," Bhatti said.
He said the government is unveiling not just a strategy but also a detailed implementation roadmap. The Deputy Chief Minister said the state will promote strong, deep partnerships between industry and academic institutions.
"Quantum technology will be a major driver of economic growth for both Telangana and India. It will help attract and retain global investments across sectors and is vital for research and innovation initiatives.
The quantum will also play an important role in helping startups achieve their goals," Bhatti Vikramarka said. He announced that the state is setting up a Young India Startup Fund of ₹1,000 crore, with quantum startups being a key focus.
He assured that Telangana will work towards becoming a model for building a complete quantum value chain — from research in laboratories to business applications in the market.
"Quantum is not just for business or economic growth but is also crucial for strengthening capabilities in computing, communications, and cybersecurity," Bhatti Vikramarka said.
He said Telangana’s strong scientific depth, policy vision, and execution capacity will together help build a powerful ecosystem in which academia, startups, industry, and government work as partners.
The Deputy Chief Minister called upon everyone to celebrate this important day, as the country is taking a major “quantum leap”.
The event was attended by Minister Sridhar Babu, NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, members Dr. V.K. Saraswat and Debjani Ghosh, Special CS Sanjay Kumar, Deputy CM’s Special Secretary Krishna Bhaskar, and leaders from IIIT-Hyderabad, IIT-Hyderabad, CR Rao Institute, and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR).
