Metro India News | ALAMPUR
It may sound bizarre but true. If people wish to meet Alampur MLA Vijayudu, he would have to crisscross to the neighboring state Andhra Pradesh. The MLA is reportedly conducting his official activities from the Challa Compound in Kurnool city instead of using the camp office located in Alampur.
This has led to widespread dissatisfaction among the public. Locals ask why they should take the pains to go to Kurnool to meet the MLA. Beneficiaries of various social schemes such as Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak and CM Relief Fund are not happy. People are urging the MLA to make himself available to the public at the camp office located at Alampur Chowrastha and conduct administrative work from there.
The curious case of Alampur-Kurnool
The cost of bifurcation of the two Telugu states has taken a toll on several counts, but in the case of Alampur in Telangana and Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, which is a stone’s throw (just 38 km) it is the people on both sides that are facing a host of issues including daily life disruptions, trade and transport barriers, education and job uncertainties, stalled infrastructure, administrative confusion, resource disputes, slow regional development and most worrisome of all, the MLA from Alampur seems to have taken a fancy for Kurnool leaving Alampurites in a tizzy.
