The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Telangana announced that the state has achieved the second position in the country for leveraging social media effectively, as per the latest statistical report released by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Jharkhand secured the first position in this ranking.

The ECI's media division regularly provides guidance and technical support to ensure states and Union Territories use social media as a tool for information dissemination, transparency, and myth-busting among electors.

With a subscriber base exceeding 3 lakh, CEO Telangana's social media platforms played a vital role in delivering timely and clear communication, engaging voters, and seeking feedback. Highlighting the importance of elections as the "Festival of Democracy,"

the CEO expressed gratitude to followers and the ECI for their continuous support. Notably, Telangana recorded a 3% increase in voter turnout during the 2024 Parliament elections, rising from 62.77% in 2019 to 66.3%.

It may be noted that social media is actively utilized under the flagship initiative, Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), to promote voter registration and engagement.

Customized communication strategies address diverse societal segments, including youth, women, and men, while ensuring inclusivity for marginalized groups such as third gender individuals, Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG), senior citizens, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD).

The CEO Telangana's robust social media presence underscored its commitment to transparency, accuracy, and democratic values, thus reiterating its dedication to upholding the integrity of elections in the world's largest democracy.
