Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to draft a comprehensive cow protection policy, citing the cultural and spiritual significance of cows. He chaired a high-level review at his residence on Tuesday. To study best practices and develop a structured plan, a three-member committee has been formed, comprising Special Chief Secretary (Animal Husbandry) Sabyasachi Ghosh, Principal Secretary (Endowments) Shailaja Ramaiyer, and Agriculture Secretary Raghunandan Rao.

In the first phase, the government will establish modern cow shelters (Goshalas) at Vemulawada, Yadadri, Enkepally (near Hyderabad), and near the Animal Husbandry University. These sites were chosen due to high cattle donations linked to temple vows (Kode Mokku).

The CM emphasized ample space for the shelters, suggesting at least 100 acres for the Vemulawada Goshala, and assured full government support and funding.

An approach paper on Goshala management was also presented during the meeting. Attendees included Animal Husbandry Minister V. Srihari, senior secretaries, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmad, and other top officials.
