Electric vehicle major Tesla on Wednesday commissioned its first charging station in Gurugram, marking a key step in strengthening its charging infrastructure in India as it looks to support wider adoption of electric mobility.
The new facility, located at the DLF Horizon Center, is equipped with four V4 Superchargers offering peak charging speeds of up to 250 kW and three destination chargers with a charging speed of 11 kW. The setup is designed to cater to diverse customer needs and provide faster, more convenient charging options for Tesla owners.
According to the company, Tesla Superchargers can enable a Model Y vehicle to gain up to 275 km of driving range in just 15 minutes, significantly reducing charging time and improving usability for long-distance and urban travel.
Tesla India General Manager Sharad Agarwal said the company is focused on building a complete electric vehicle ecosystem in the country, noting that EV adoption depends not only on vehicles but also on the availability of reliable charging infrastructure. He added that Tesla aims to develop charging solutions aligned with customers’ daily lifestyles.
With the launch of the Gurugram facility, Tesla now operates three charging stations across India. These sites together house 12 Superchargers and 10 destination chargers, reflecting the company’s gradual expansion of its charging network as part of its broader sustainability and clean mobility strategy in the Indian market.
