The Government of Telangana has reiterated its commitment to social justice by engaging with BC (Backward Classes) associations and intellectuals to address concerns regarding the recently conducted caste survey. In a high-level meeting held at the Secretariat, Minister for Transport & BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar and Government Advisor K Kesava Rao interacted with BC leaders, professors, and experts to dispel doubts and take their recommendations to the Chief Minister.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar emphasized that the Congress government, acting on the instructions of their leader Rahul Gandhi, conducted the survey transparently for the first time in India, reinforcing its commitment to BC empowerment. While some opposition parties raised objections, the government reiterated its dedication to implementing policies based on the survey findings, including political reservations, local body elections, and BC welfare initiatives.

Ponnam Prabhakar assured that all suggestions from BC leaders would be taken to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's notice for necessary action. He criticized the BJP at the Centre and the previous BRS government for failing to conduct a caste census, stating that their inaction deprived BCs of rightful social justice.

The Telangana government remains committed to ensuring transparency, inclusivity, and empowerment for BC communities, with continued engagement and policy action based on the caste survey findings, the minister stressed. The meeting was attended by several dignitaries, including MPs, MLAs, BC Commission members, and prominent BC association leaders, who welcomed the government’s initiative.
