Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy launched EAGLE (Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement) under the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB). He explained that EAGLE will operate as a highly trained enforcement wing that will detect drug cultivation, especially cannabis, and intercept narcotics trafficking at the borders. "Even a single cannabis plant will not be allowed to grow unnoticed," he warned.
He was speaking at a high-profile event at Shilpakala Vedika on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Strict warning to school managements The Chief Minister declared that strict action will be taken against schools and colleges where students are found using or possessing narcotic substances.
The management of educational institutions will be held accountable for anti-social activities on their campuses," CM Revanth stressed. "It is their responsibility to monitor student behavior and ensure drug-free environments. We cannot afford to stay silent while our youth fall prey to this silent epidemic."
CM also recalled his own rise from humble beginnings in Nallamala forests, drawing parallels with successful actors Ram Charan and Vijay Deverakonda (who were also on the dais), urging youth to pursue success with hard work and commitment, not drugs. He appealed to everyone-citizens, government, and institutions-to join hands in building a drug-free Telangana.
The event was attended by prominent personalities including Minister Adluri Laxman, MPs Anil Kumar Yadav and Konda Visweswar Reddy, actors Ram Charan and Vijay Deverakonda, TFDC Chairman Dil Raju, DGP Jitender, TGANB Director Sandeep Shandilya, and badminton coach Pullela Gopichand.
