The Telangana Cabinet, which met for over six hours on Thursday, has approved two DAs, one immediately and the second DA after six months. Regarding Health Cards, the government decided to form a trust headed by Chief Secretary with each employee contributing Rs 500 each with government contributing an equal amount for the health card. Also it was decided to release Rs 700 crore every month to clear pending bills pertaining to the government employees, informed Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka in a press briefing after the meeting.

Minister Ponguleti also highlighted the recent cabinet decision to name the new Earth Sciences university in Bhadradri Kothagudam, which was conceptualized post-State formation, after former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh—who played a crucial role in granting statehood to Telangana. “This is a heartfelt tribute to the late Prime Minister for his support to our cause,” he added.

He further informed that earlier, there was no insurance cover for accidental deaths of employees. “After the Congress government came to power, we introduced a government-sponsored insurance scheme that provides Rs10 lakh to the family of any employee who dies accidentally. In the last one year alone, 385 such families were supported, amounting to Rs 38.30 crore in compensation,” he stated. The cabinet has approved continuation of this initiative in the coming years.

On the infrastructure front, Minister Reddy noted the government’s decision to put an end to arbitrary road development practices of the past. “Instead of roads being laid selectively towards private farmhouses, we are now focusing on connectivity and equity. Every village will get a BT road to the mandal headquarters, every mandal to the district center via double roads, and districts will be connected to the state capital with four-lane roads. Any missing road links will also be taken up,” he explained.

The cabinet has approved an ambitious road development plan including 519 km under R&B and 7,947 km under Panchayat Raj, to be taken up in mission mode. “This government is committed to inclusive governance and rapid infrastructure development that benefits every citizen,” Minister Ponguleti said

Land Allocation for Oil Palm Factory: 12 acres have been allocated for an oil palm factory in Inchurla village, Mulugu district, Insurance & Loan Payments for Women's Self-Help Groups-Rs 70 crore has been approved for accident and loan insurance payments for members of women's self-elp groups, a decision has been made to modernize rural roads under the HAM policy.

Metro Rail expansion

In a major boost to urban public transport, the Telangana Cabinet has approved the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase 2B project. The expansion, spanning 86.1 kilometers, will be taken up as a joint venture between the Central and State governments at an estimated cost of Rs 19,579 crore.

The three corridors under this phase include: Corridor-1 from Shamshabad Airport to Future City (39.6 km), Corridor-2 from Jubilee Bus Station to Medchal (24.5 km), and Corridor-3 from Jubilee Bus Station to Shamirpet (22 km). The decision marks a significant step toward decongesting city traffic and improving last-mile connectivity.
