Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced the state’s commitment to a sustainable energy future by proposing a Clean and Green Energy Policy
Highlighting Telangana’s rapid growth and increasing energy demand, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the state’s vision to achieve a clean and sustainable energy transition.
“As one of the fastest-growing states with a diverse economy, Telangana’s peak power demand is projected to rise from 15,623 MW in 2023-24 to 20,968 MW in 2027-28, and 31,809 MW by 2034-35. Energy requirements will grow from 85,644 MUs in 2023-24 to 1,15,347 MUs by 2027-28 and to 1,50,040 MUs by 2034-35,” said Deputy CM in a press note issued by his office on Wednesday.
To meet this rising demand sustainably, the Telangana government has set an ambitious target of adding 20,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, aligning with the national vision for green energy, he said.
As part of this initiative, a stakeholder’s convention will be held on January 3, 2025, at 11 AM at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), Madhapur. The convention will bring together key stakeholders from across the country to discuss and collaborate on strategies for implementing the new policy, Deputy CM said. Bhatti urged all stakeholders to participate in this key meeting to shape Telangana’s green energy future.
