‘The Energy Beneath Your Feet’

Khush Raho with Sangeeta

Sangeeta Bhalla :

Have you ever noticed how good it feels to walk on cool grass in the morning, or let sand run between your toes at the beach? There is a reason for that feeling, and it goes deeper than simple pleasure.

Let me take you back to my childhood in Delhi. My mother was strict about one thing: slippers beside the bed, always. The moment your feet touched the floor in the morning, they had to be in slippers. Even in summer, the rule stayed because of Delhi’s dust.

Later, we moved to Kuala Lumpur, and everything changed. Every home had a rack outside or near the entrance. I soon learned why. In Malaysia, you do not enter a home with shoes. Chinese, South Indian, and Malay communities all followed this practice naturally.

Our Italian neighbour also followed it, leaving his leather loafers outside each evening. One day, the shoes vanished — a costly and funny lesson: a rack inside the door is wiser.

So why does this matter beyond hygiene? This is what I truly want to share.

Our feet are more than movement. The soles contain energy centres, chakras, that connect with the ground. Like electrical systems needing grounding wires, we also need that connection.

Mother Earth carries a subtle frequency. Our feet act like antennas. Shoes protect us, but also reduce this natural connection.

At home, we can let our feet breathe. Walking barefoot indoors is a good start. If needed, use natural materials like grass slippers, wood, or cotton socks instead of rubber or plastic.

You can also go outside. Bare feet on grass, soil, rivers, or beaches — earthing or grounding was once natural living. The earth’s energy rises through the feet and nourishes the body.

Small shifts. Profound healing. That is Khush Raho.

Until next time — Khush Raho! Stay happy, stay healthy.
