Actress Rashmika Mandanna and actor Dheekshith Shetty star in the much-anticipated film The Girlfriend, jointly produced by Geetha Arts and Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment, and presented by veteran producer Allu Aravind.

Directed by Rahul Ravindran, the movie promises an intense, emotional love story told uniquely from the heroine’s perspective, with Dheeraj Mogilineni and Vidya Koppineedi at the helm as producers.

Scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release, The Girlfriend will premiere in Hindi and Telugu on the 7th of this month, followed by Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions on the 14th.

Speaking about the film, Dheeraj Mogilineni said they were drawn to the story during the pandemic and were determined to release it theatrically. ‘We didn’t cast Dheekshith for market reasons—he was perfect for the role,’ he added. Rashmika, he revealed, had initially waived her remuneration, and the producers later doubled it out of gratitude.

Anu Emmanuel also plays a significant role, adding depth to the narrative. Confident about the film’s reception, the producers highlighted that audiences are returning to theaters for strong content, and with The Girlfriend, what they envisioned on screen has been realized perfectly. Premieres are planned shortly before the release.
