Malkajgiri made me CM, says Revanth while launching Rs 1,500 crore works

Metro India News | Hyderabad

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Sunday launched development works worth Rs 1,511 crore in Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation limits and asserted that the State government is committed to transforming Hyderabad into a globally competitive city through administrative reforms, infrastructure expansion and urban rejuvenation projects.

Addressing a large public gathering at Uppal Bhagayath Layout, the Chief Minister credited women and the people of Malkajgiri for his political journey from a defeated MLA candidate in 2018 to Chief Minister. He said women had consistently blessed and supported him and stressed that they should always be given priority and respect at public meetings.

Revanth Reddy recalled that after losing the Kodangal Assembly election, the people of Malkajgiri elected him as Member of Parliament, helping him regain political footing. He said the constituency's support eventually paved the way for his appointment as TPCC president and later for the formation of the Congress government in Telangana.

The Chief Minister defended the government's decision to reorganise urban administration and create three municipal corporations in the Hyderabad metropolitan region. Rejecting criticism that the move was politically motivated, he said the decision was taken purely for administrative convenience and to improve governance. He noted that nearly 1.3 crore people reside within the Outer Ring Road limits, making decentralised administration essential.

As part of the development package, Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for a new Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation headquarters to be built at a cost of Rs 98 crore, alternative road works at AOC Centre costing Rs 960 crore, a six lane flyover at TKR College Junction worth Rs 416 crore and a 100 bed district hospital estimated at Rs 37.5 crore.

The Chief Minister also launched the CURE1 mobile application and commitment to extending Metro Rail connectivity, improving road infrastructure and beautifying lakes across the region. Highlighting the Musi River rejuvenation project, Revanth Reddy said the initiative would transform the 55 kilometre stretch from Gandipet to Gauravelli into a major tourism and economic corridor. He alleged that political opposition was obstructing rehabilitation efforts despite the government's assurance of housing and educational support for affected families.

The Chief Minister sharply criticised Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, accusing him of failing to secure Central approvals and funding for Metro Rail expansion, the Regional Ring Road and paddy procurement issues.

Responding to the CM remarks, Union Minister Kishan Reddy challenged the Chief Minister to a public debate on any issue and urged the State government to focus on fulfilling its promises to the people of Telangana.
