Devesh Chaturvedi, IAS, Secretary, Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, virtually launched a three-month MOOC Program on Natural Farming: Principles and Practices, a joint initiative of the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) and GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation) on Friday. This on-line course is free to everyone and covers 36 topics on natural farming with very useful video lessons by experts supported by reading materials.
In his inaugural address, Devesh Chaturvedi, IAS, appreciated the initiative and highlighted that behavioural change of stakeholders is important for natural farming movement and stressed the importance of capacity building and sensitization of stakeholders. He recommended to include feedback module, testimonials from practitioners and suggested to translate the course in major Indian languages.
On the occasion, Dr Hanuman Sagar Singh, IPoS, and Director General, MANAGE, said the program provides scientific basis for natural farming practices and covers all aspects of natural farming comprehensively. This program will benefit and encourage farmers, scientists, universities, KVKs, and students and will contribute better way in natural farming practices awareness, he said.
