A significant surge in tiger migration has brought delight to Forest officials and enthusiasts in Mancherial district, with at least five big cats moving into the local forests from Maharashtra.
Authorities confirmed that two female tigers, L1 and T1, have established territories. L1, a quiet tigress from Tadoba, is settled in the Luxettipet range, while T1 is more active, killing cattle and marking boundaries in the Devapur and Tiryani ranges.
Adding to the count, a male tiger recently entered the core of Kawal Tiger Reserve, an area that had not seen a tiger for over four years and was sighted late Thursday night. Three more migrant tigers were spotted in the Bellampalli and Chennur divisions, with one attacking a herd of cows.
Officials believe the influx, occurring during the breeding season, is in search of territory and mates. They are working to ensure safe passage for the tigers, hoping the migration will successfully boost the district’s tiger population.
