Why is youth unhappy?

  1. Congress government has not issued any general job notifications
  2. Demand notifications for posts including GPO (Gram Panchayat Officers), DSC, Group 1, 2, 3, 4, SI, police constables, and Forest Beat Officers
  3. Despite promises of 2 lakh jobs during elections, only 11,000 positions have been filled
  4. 5,944 GPO posts are vacant
  5. Mega DSC with 25,000 teacher posts should be released

Telangana’s unemployed youth have expressed strong dissatisfaction with the state government over the delay in releasing job notifications. Several aspiring candidates have announced that they will contest the Jubilee Hills by-election to protest against the government and demand immediate action on pending job notifications.

Around 30 candidates are currently preparing to file nominations, with the number expected to rise. Many expressed anger that the Congress government has not issued any general job notifications requiring a degree, leaving nearly 30 lakh unemployed youth feeling neglected. They are demanding notifications for posts including GPO (Gram Panchayat Officers), DSC, Group 1, 2, 3, 4, SI, police constables, and Forest Beat Officers.

Candidates also plan to file nominations citing grievances over GO No. 46 and GO No. 29, which they claim have caused them losses. In total, nominations will cover about 30 different demands, including filling vacant GPO and DSC posts, releasing SI and constable notifications, cancelling controversial GOs, issuing a job calendar, and filling Forest Beat Officer, Forest Section Officer, and Forest Range Officer positions. The unemployed have warned that thousands of nominations will be filed to ensure their protest is heard.

The unemployed youth allege that despite promises of 2 lakh jobs during elections, only 11,000 positions have been filled. They claim the government has ignored their concerns and has not provided a clear job calendar.

Many candidates said that Congress, which relied on their support in past elections, is now neglecting them. Apart from minor actions like increasing some DSC and Group 1 posts, no significant steps have been taken, they added.

Kolukulapalli Ramakrishna Vannar Chola, an unemployed aspirant, said, “We want to make our voices heard, not support or oppose any political party. Nearly 5,944 GPO posts are vacant, and filling them would allow many qualified candidates to compete. We are also demanding that Forest Beat and Range Officer posts be filled. I will file my nomination along with hundreds of others as a rally to highlight our protest. Students from Osmania University are also preparing to file nominations. We want the government to release job notifications immediately.”

Bhukya Kumar, president of the Telangana B.Ed Candidates Association, said, “A mega DSC with 25,000 teacher posts should be released. Currently, 70 percent of school assistant posts are being filled through promotions, leaving only 30 percent for direct recruitment. This disadvantages B.Ed graduates. We demand that GO No.108 be cancelled and direct recruitment be increased to fill 10,200 school assistant posts as per our quota. We are filing nominations to raise our concerns.”
