Telangana secures Palm Oil Refinery and Bottle Caps Unit from the FMCG Giant

In a significant development at the World Economic Forum (WEF) meet in Davos, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy successfully convinced Unilever, a global leader in the FMCG sector, to make its foray into Telangana. During a high-level discussion with Hein Schumacher, CEO of Unilever, and Willem Uijen, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Unilever committed to establishing two significant manufacturing units in the state.
Unilever will set up a palm oil refinery and processing unit in Kamareddy district, marking its first major investment in Telangana. Additionally, the company will establish a bottle caps manufacturing facility, addressing a critical demand in the FMCG supply chain and reducing reliance on imports. This strategic move is set to boost Telangana’s manufacturing sector and provide new employment opportunities.
Telangana’s strategic advantages highlighted
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, along with IT & Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu showcased Telangana’s exceptional locational and logistical advantages during the discussions. The state’s strategic position as a gateway to southern, central, and eastern India, along with its consumption-driven market, ease of doing business, and forward-looking policies, were key factors that appealed to Unilever.
The CM also emphasized Telangana’s progressive vision for 2050 under the "Telangana Rising" initiative, aligning with Unilever’s sustainability and growth goals. Responding positively to the CM’s pitch, Unilever’s CEO acknowledged the state’s potential and pledged full cooperation in establishing the new units.
Welcoming Unilever to Telangana, CM Revanth Reddy stated, “This is a proud moment for Telangana, as a global leader like Unilever recognizes our state’s potential. We are committed to supporting their growth and ensuring a sustainable future for our people and the planet.”

In a bid to enhance its technological and agricultural sectors, Telangana held key discussions at the WEF. Su Le, Chief Growth Officer of California-based SambaNova, met Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu to explore investments in the state’s semiconductor industry. SambaNova’s cutting-edge AI platform offers potential to drive innovation and deep learning capabilities in Telangana.
Additionally, Arek Sultan, Chairman of Agility, met Minister Sridhar Babu at the Telangana Pavilion. Emphasizing sustainable development, the Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to improving farmer incomes through innovative solutions. Both meetings were marked by encouraging progress toward future collaborations.
