Land acquisition estimates prepared
■ Land will be acquired for setting up metro stations at Patamata, Mogalrajapuram, Machavaram and Gunadala in the city as well as Prasadampadu, Nidamanur and Enikepadu in Vijayawada rural mandal
■ The PNBS-Gannavaram corridor is 26 km and the PNBS-Penamaluru corridor is 12.5 km
■ The construction cost of the metro project is estimated to be Rs 11,000 crore
■ Cost of land acquisition is estimated to be Rs 1,152 crore

Vijayawada Metro Rail Project is progressing at a rapid pace. Estimates have been prepared for land acquisition in NTR district and Vijayawada city for the construction of the project. Officials have drawn up estimates of land requirement.
There are two corridors in the metro project which will be constructed in the first phase. While there will be one corridor from Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) to Gannavaram, the second corridor from PNBS to Penamaluru .
Revenue officials have identified land required in NTR district. Ward and survey numbers were determined. Land will be acquired for setting up metro stations at Patamata, Mogalrajapuram, Machavaram and Gunadala in the city as well as Prasadampadu, Nidamanur and Enikepadu in Vijayawada rural mandal.
The PNBS-Gannavaram corridor is 26 km and the PNBS-Penamaluru corridor is 12.5 km. About 91 acres of land will be acquired in the NTR and Krishna districts together. The construction cost of the metro project is estimated to be Rs 11,000 crore while the cost of land acquisition is estimated to be Rs 1,152 crore. Stations will be constructed at 34 locations in these two corridors. There are 20 stations in NTR district and 14 in Krishna district. The Metro Corporation has submitted reports to the revenue administration of the two districts for this purpose.
4.12 acres in Vijayawada city
For setting up metro stations, 4.12 acres of land will be acquired at various key locations in Vijayawada city limits. Proposals have been made to acquire land in most of the areas between 12 square yards and 1,000 square yards adjacent to Bandar and Eluru roads. The process of acquiring a total of 1.28 acres of land in Prasadampadu, Nidamanur and Enikepadu in Vijayawada rural mandal has begun.
Rs 25 crore for construction of each station
A total of 34 stations will be constructed in the first phase of the metro project, which is estimated to cost Rs 25 crore for the construction of each station. A 3-km underground metro line will be constructed near the Gannavaram airport and there will also be a metro station here. Most of the land acquisition has to be carried out in Krishna district except in Vijayawada and rural mandals. Proposals are being prepared to acquire more than 50 acres of land for the construction of metro coach depot near Gannavaram.
