The Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up to host a record-breaking mass yoga event, ‘Yogandhra’, along the picturesque coastline of Visakhapatnam to mark the 11th International Day of Yoga. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to attend. The event, planned along a 26-kilometre stretch from RK Beach to Bheemili, aims to set a world record for the largest number of people performing yoga at a single location—an ambitious target of 5 lakh participants.

According to the state’s Nodal Officer M.T. Krishna Babu, the logistics operation for Yogandhra is one of the largest ever undertaken by the Andhra Pradesh government. Over 247 specially marked compartments will be set up along the stretch to manage crowd flow and safety. Entry into each compartment will be controlled via QR-coded registrations, with a gazetted officer assigned to each zone.

Participants traveling from distant districts will be allowed access from as early as 2 a.m. on June 21, and over 1,200 surveillance cameras will monitor the venue. A central Command Control Room is being established to oversee movement and emergency response.
