Marri Rajasekhar Reddy seeks Urgent Fix
Metro India News | Hyderabad
Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy raised serious concerns in the State Legislative Assembly over the ongoing property-related issues affecting thousands of residents in his constituency.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation on Thursday, the MLA informed the House that nearly 384 acres covering 76 colonies in Malkajgiri have been declared as Waqf Board properties. Following this classification, the Registration Department in 2024 included these lands under the prohibited list as per Section 22-A, effectively restricting property transactions.
As a result, around 18,000 homeowners are facing severe hardships. Despite possessing valid Property Tax Identification (PTI) numbers, residents are unable to avail bank loans, mortgage their properties, sell their houses, or undertake additional construction. The restrictions have significantly impacted their financial stability and day-to-day lives.
Marri pointed out that in the absence of a clear administrative resolution, affected residents are being forced to approach courts to secure permissions. This legal route is not only time-consuming but also financially burdensome, with individuals reportedly spending up to ₹1 lakh to obtain necessary clearances. At present, property registrations are being processed only based on court orders, further complicating the situation.
Terming the issue as a major concern for middle-class families, the MLA urged the government to intervene immediately and provide a practical and permanent solution. He reiterated his commitment to stand by the people of Malkajgiri and ensure that their grievances are addressed at the earliest.
