■  India will not tolerate any ‘nuclear blackmail’: PM Narendra Modi

In his first address to the nation following the recent India-Pakistan conflict, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke for nearly 20 minutes, offering a comprehensive overview of India’s response to terrorism and the launch of Operation Sindoor, calling it a turning point in the country’s counter-terrorism strategy. PM Modi began by commending the Indian Armed Forces, intelligence agencies, and scientific community for their exemplary role in the success of Operation Sindoor.

He emphasized that their courage and precision were a testament to India’s strength, patience, and resilience. "On behalf of every Indian, I salute our brave soldiers, paramilitary personnel, and intelligence agencies," he said.

Addressing the recent terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, the Prime Minister condemned the brutal killing of civilians, including acts where victims were targeted based on religion. "It deeply affected me personally. After this cruelty, the nation unanimously demanded strong action," Modi stated.

Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam attack, was characterized as a demonstration of India’s new resolve. PM Modi said the government gave complete operational freedom to the armed forces to dismantle terrorist infrastructure, famously describing the goal as “Mitti Mein Milane ke Liye” (to decimate them). He revealed that Indian forces carried out precision strikes on terror camps located in Bhawalpur and Muridke, areas long known as breeding grounds of terrorism.

These sites were targeted with drones and missiles in a swift campaign carried out between the nights of May 6 and 7, eliminating over 100 terrorists. “Our strikes shocked the enemy and the world alike. We struck their heart—terror training centres they thought were untouchable. The world witnessed how India turned its resolution into reality,” he asserted.

According to the Prime Minister, Indian forces inflicted significant damage on Pakistan’s terror infrastructure, including air bases. Despite the severity of the operation, India’s air defence systems effectively neutralized retaliatory drone and missile attacks by Pakistan.

In the aftermath, Pakistan reportedly approached multiple international actors seeking intervention. On May 10, Pakistan’s DGMO reached out to India, proposing cessation of hostilities and a pledge to prevent attacks on India from its soil. “By then, we had already dismantled key components of their terror network,” said Modi.

//A temporary pause, not the end//

While confirming a pause in Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister emphasized that this was not a cessation. “We will closely monitor Pakistan’s actions. This is a temporary halt. If they continue on the same path, they will face even more severe consequences,” he warned.

//Redefining India’s approach to Terrorism//

Operation Sindoor, Modi declared, represents a new normal in India’s fight against terrorism. He outlined a firm zero-tolerance policy, underscoring that India would no longer separate terrorists from their state backers. “The world saw Pakistan Army officials attending the funerals of terrorists we neutralized—this is irrefutable proof of state-sponsored terrorism,” he said.

PM Modi warned against nuclear blackmail, reiterating that such tactics will not deter India. “We have always defeated Pakistan in wars, and now, in modern 21st-century warfare under the Made in India initiative, we have shown our technological and military capability.”

In his finishing remarks of the address made on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, a day symbolic of peace, PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty and citizens. “We showed our might in deserts, mountains, and the battlefield of modern warfare. Operation Sindoor has written history. The nation has spoken in one voice—we will no longer tolerate terrorism.”
