BJP MLA Payal Shankar on Sunday said that their party was fully supporting the proposal to provide 42 percent reservation to the BCs of the state. He spoke during the discussion in the Legislative Assembly on the Municipal Act Amendment Bill. "We fully support the bill tabled in the House today. The state government should clear the doubts of the BCs in the state. The Congress government should hold a debate in the House on the Kamareddy BC declaration. It has been 22 months since the Congress government was formed in Telangana. All the BCs were hopeful after the Kamareddy declaration,” he said .
He wondered as to what was the number of the BCs in the state cabinet and added whether there were no competent people among the BCs? “The government should put its hand on its heart and say. What is the number of the BCs in the cabinet and in the corporations posts you have filled ? The Congress has announced that it will give Rs. 20 thousand crores to the BCs per year. It has been 22 months since the government was formed. According to that calculation, Rs. 40 thousand crores is due to the BCs. Before making laws, we should also look at the courts.
Laws should be made without any difficulties. The BCs should benefit without any hindrance. The Supreme Court has also been clear on the issue of the BC reservations inclusion in Schedule 9 of the Indian Constitution. We have not said anywhere that the 42 percent reservation should not be given to the BCs," said Payal Shankar.
