Will deliver Rythu Bharosa notwithstanding financial challenges: Bhatti Vikramarka

Despite financial challenges, the government would deliver on the Rythu Bharosa (investment support) promise to farmers, stressed Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, the Deputy Chief Minister and Chairman of the Rythu Bharosa Sub-committee. In its first year, the state government deposited Rs 7,625 crore as investment aid for 1.57 crore acres under the Rythu Bharosa program, he said.

Bhatti chaired a key meeting of the sub-committee comprising ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao, Dudilla Sridhar Babu, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and other senior officials from the agriculture department on Sunday. They deliberated for two hours discussing on procedures and modalities for releasing Rythu Bharosa amounts to farmers for the Yasangi crop

The Deputy CM emphasized in the meeting that the Congress government was fully committed to the welfare of farmers. A total of Rs 72,659 crore has been allocated for agriculture and allied sectors in the state budget, showcasing the government’s dedication to making agriculture profitable, Deputy CM highlighted.

Further Rs 21,000 crore have been deposited in farmers’ bank accounts within two months under the farmer loan waiver initiative, benefiting farmers with loans up to Rs 2 lakh, he added

Bhatti said that an Agriculture Commission has been set up to work for the welfare of the farmers and to make agriculture profitable in the state.

Under the Rythu Nestham program, 110 Rythu Vedhikalu have been equipped with video conferencing facilities at a cost of over Rs 4 crore to address farmers’ issues effectively. The Congress government aims to revive and utilize effectively these venues established by the previous administration.

Bhatti said that the state government will pay the premium on behalf of the farmers under the Rythu Bhima (crop insurance) scheme. A target has been set to cultivate oil palms on 1 lakh acres by 2024-25. For 2023-24, Rs 133.5 crore, including the state share of Rs 80 crore, has been allocated for the oil cultivation scheme, Deputy CM said.

Farmers will receive Rs 500 bonus per quintal for fine grain procurement, with senior IAS officers assigned to oversee seamless operations.
