Women’s self-help groups in Telangana have earned Rs 1 crore by leasing 150 buses to RTC under the Aam Aadmi Bima Scheme. The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Sunday during a public meeting held at Luxettipet in Mancherial district. He described the initiative as a benchmark for community-led enterprise and confirmed that 450 additional buses will be leased in the next phase.
To further accelerate economic inclusion, Rs 21,600 crore in interest-free loans is being distributed to women’s groups across the state from July 12 to 20. Women’s collectives have also been allotted land for ventures such as canteens, petrol bunks, and solar energy units. Micro-industries are being launched in every Assembly constituency to support women-led businesses.
Bhatti announced that a special development program for Adilabad district is being considered. The government is also moving forward with launching the Babasaheb Ambedkar Pranahita–Chevella irrigation project to strengthen agriculture in the region.
Farmers are receiving comprehensive support: Rs 9,000 crore has been credited to 70 lakh accounts under Rythu Bharosa, and Rs 21,000 crore in farm loans has been waived in three months. Free crop insurance, disaster compensation, and 24-hour electricity supply are among the other measures in place.
Healthcare and housing have received renewed attention. The Rajiv Aarogyasri scheme now covers 93 lakh families, and 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses worth Rs 5 lakh each are being constructed at a total cost of Rs 22,500 crore. In parallel, 51 lakh families are receiving free electricity up to 200 units.
For tribal communities, the Indira Soura Girijana Vikasam Scheme is supplying solar pumps, irrigation tools, and horticulture saplings. Educational access is being expanded through Young India International Schools aimed at underserved students. The Deputy CM concluded by highlighting the transformative intent behind these initiatives and the government’s commitment to inclusive, grassroots development.
