TG strengthens employee security with Rs 1 Crore insurance cover

Metro India News | Hyderabad

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday announced the rollout of a Rs 1 crore accident insurance scheme for Telangana government employees, describing it as a landmark welfare initiative aimed at ensuring financial security for employees' families. Speaking at a programme held at Ravindra Bharathi after the signing of an agreement with banks, the Chief Minister said the government considers employee welfare its foremost responsibility.

Recalling the successful implementation of a similar insurance scheme for Singareni workers, Revanth Reddy said he had initially doubted whether such a benefit could be provided without any financial burden on employees. However, the scheme proved its effectiveness after Rs 1 crore insurance claims were extended to the families of 45 deceased Singareni workers, prompting the government to introduce the same protection for all state employees.

The Chief Minister said government employees serve as the vital bridge between the administration and the people, and assured them that the government would always stand by them during difficult times. He reiterated that retirement benefits were being released in phases as promised and that salaries were being credited on the first day of every month despite financial constraints.

Calling upon employees to contribute more actively towards Telangana's growth, Revanth Reddy urged them to work an extra hour each day to improve government efficiency and enhance state revenues. He said higher revenues would enable the government to address employees' welfare needs while strengthening public services.

The Chief Minister accused the previous BRS government of burdening Telangana with massive debt and said the present government was rebuilding the state's financial stability through responsible governance. He also alleged that political opponents were obstructing key development initiatives, including the Musi River rejuvenation project and Hyderabad Metro expansion.

Reiterating his commitment to public service, Revanth Reddy said his government was working towards transforming Telangana into a $1 trillion economy by 2034 through improved governance, enhanced law and order, greater investments and the active participation of government employees.
