Following the directives of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao has directed district collectors to evaluate the damage resulting from the recent heavy rains and floods linked to Cyclone Montha and to promptly report their findings to the government.
On Saturday, the Chief Secretary conducted a teleconference with the collectors from the districts impacted by the cyclone to assess the ongoing situation. The teleconference included participation from Special Chief Secretary of the Disaster Management department, Arvind Kumar, along with senior officials from various departments.
During the discussion, Ramakrishna Rao noted that approximately 24 districts across the state have experienced the effects of the cyclone.
He instructed that the basic information regarding crop damage in the districts, infrastructure, water sources, livestock, fatalities, and other relevant details be reported to the government without delay.
In addition, the Chief Secretary noted that in recent times, rainfall amounts of 25 to 30 centimeters have occurred abruptly and without warning. In light of this, he recommended that proactive plans be developed for each district to address potential emergencies.
During the meeting, officials reported that efforts are actively underway to restore roads, power lines, and water sources affected by the cyclone in the various districts. The Chief Secretary stated that funds are being promptly allocated for the repair of Anganwadi and school buildings that have been damaged.
Similarly, he ordered that areas that are frequently flooded should be identified, steps should be taken towards a permanent solution, and necessary proposals should be sent to the government.
