Comedian Kunal Kamra has strongly criticised T-Series after the music label issued a copyright strike against his parody video, claiming that his content falls under the fair use policy. The video, which was a satire based on a popular film song, led to a legal battle as T-Series sought to remove it, citing copyright infringement.
Kamra argued that parody and satire are protected under fair use laws, especially when they are transformative in nature. He explained that his parody did not use the original song’s lyrics or instrumental, making it a legitimate form of creative expression.
“I’ve used the song to comment on social and political issues, not to exploit the original material. Parody is a tool for societal commentary and should not be suppressed,” Kamra stated. The controversy has sparked a debate on social media about the boundaries of fair use and the power of large media companies like T-Series to control content on digital platforms.
