CM emphasized that SC classification and caste enumeration are among the most fulfilling milestones of his political journey. He reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to social justice and thanked all stakeholders for their efforts in achieving this long-awaited reform.
The CM reiterated the government's commitment to social justice by announcing the implementation of Scheduled Caste (SC) sub-caste classification, following a comprehensive review of the Justice Shameem Akhtar Commission Report. The decision marks a significant step toward equitable distribution of reservation benefits among SC communities.
Speaking after making a statement in this regard in Assembly on Tuesday, CM Revanth Reddy emphasized that the fight for SC sub-classification has spanned over three decades. He stated that Telangana is leading the nation by being the first state to take decisive action in implementing the Supreme Court verdict on SC classification. He underscored that this decision aligns with the recommendations of the Cabinet Sub-Committee and the One-Member Judicial Commission, ensuring a legally sound and just approach.

The Justice Shameem Akhtar Commission Report recommended the classification of 59 SC communities into three groups based on social, educational, and economic status, ensuring fairer distribution of reservation benefits. The Telangana government has approved the key recommendations and is committed to their phased implementation.
He stated that the Classification Commission’s report recommended 1% reservation for 15 SC sub-castes (Group-1), 9% for 18 sub-castes (Group-2), and 5% for 26 sub-castes (Group-3). The Commission also proposed roster points and a creamy layer system for equitable distribution of reservations.
