Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy conducted a review of the progress of construction works at AIIMS Bibinagar, including an on-site inspection of the campus, followed by a review meeting.

Addressing the media, the Minister stated that a decision has been taken to complete the AIIMS Bibinagar hospital by the end of this year. Spread across 202 acres, the institute is being developed with a capacity of 750 beds and equipped with state-of-the-art medical infrastructure at a total cost of ₹1,110 crore. So far, ₹831 crore has been spent, with 86 percent of the construction completed.

He noted that construction work is progressing rapidly and highlighted that AIIMS Bibinagar is unique as the only brownfield AIIMS among greenfield projects across the country. Advanced medical equipment is being installed to provide comprehensive healthcare services. Emergency services have been operational since January 1 this year, with 220 beds currently available in the emergency block.

The Minister informed that over 1,000 staff members have already been recruited. At present, the institute has 880 students, including 497 MBBS students, 146 pursuing specialty courses, and 142 in nursing courses. Hostels for students, including 24-storey hostel buildings, are under construction.

AIIMS Bibinagar is also expanding medical research activities. Around 1,800 patients receive OP services daily. Special accommodation facilities named “Amrit Nivas” are being developed for patients’ attendants. Free treatment is being provided under Ayushman Bharat and Aarogyasri schemes, with nominal charges for others.

Upon completion, AIIMS Bibinagar will significantly enhance access to quality healthcare for rural Telangana. Plans are also underway to improve connectivity, including a nearby railway station and an MMTS Phase-II project with a proposed stop close to the campus.
