Development works in the capital city of Amaravati have gathered fresh momentum, with major infrastructure projects moving ahead at a brisk pace following the formation of the coalition government. Among the key projects witnessing rapid progress is the International Cricket Stadium being constructed at Navuluru, on the outskirts of the capital region.

The Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration Department has officially announced that construction of the stadium has reached nearly 90 per cent completion, marking a significant milestone in Amaravati’s long-pending sports infrastructure development. To highlight the progress, officials released a video on social media showcasing the advanced stage of construction. In the post, the department stated that the ACA International Cricket Stadium, being developed in Navuluru as part of the capital’s master plan, is being built in accordance with international standards and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.

“Construction of the ACA International Cricket Stadium at Navuluru in the capital region of Amaravati has reached about 90 per cent completion. The stadium is being developed with world-class amenities,” the department noted in its official communication.

The stadium is being constructed across an expanse of 24 acres, with a seating capacity of approximately 34,000 spectators. Designed to host national and international cricket matches, the facility is expected to significantly strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s sporting ecosystem while positioning Amaravati as a major venue for large-scale sporting events.

Strategically located, the stadium lies about 13 kilometres from Vijayawada and 16 kilometres from Guntur, offering easy access from both major urban centres. Officials believe the connectivity and scale of the project will make it one of the most prominent sports landmarks in the region once completed.

According to the authorities, remaining works, including finishing of spectator galleries, internal facilities, landscaping, parking areas, and approach roads, are being taken up on priority. The government has instructed executing agencies to accelerate the final phase so the stadium can be made operational at the earliest.

The revival of the stadium project is being seen as part of the broader push by the coalition government to restart and fast-track stalled capital works. Several projects in Amaravati, which had witnessed delays in recent years, are now progressing steadily with renewed administrative focus and funding support. Officials expressed confidence that the near-completion of the international cricket stadium would not only enhance the city’s profile but also boost tourism, employment, and investment opportunities in the capital region.

Once opened, the Navuluru stadium is expected to serve as a major hub for cricket in the state, hosting domestic tournaments, IPL matches, and international fixtures, while also reinforcing Amaravati’s vision as a modern, world-class capital city.
