Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka stated that the government has recognised the services of Andesri, who played a key role in uniting the people of the state through the Jaya Jayahe Telangana song, and has decided to provide a government job to one member of his family.

Bhatti Vikramarka said that Andesri, whose original name was Ande Ellayya, hailed from Reparti village in Siddipet district of Telangana. Orphaned at a young age, Andesri worked as a cattle herder and endured many hardships before emerging as a lyricist. Despite having no formal education or empowerment, he authored around 3,000 poems reflecting the lives of rural Telangana and marginalised sections of society.

During the Telangana movement, Andesri’s writings powerfully conveyed the aspirations, struggles and spirit of the people. The Jaya Jayahe Telangana song written by him played a significant role in uniting the people of the state. Andesri’s legacy, which stands as a symbol of dignity and respect, will continue to live across Telangana, Bhatti Vikramarka said.

The Deputy Chief Minister noted that Andesri’s revolutionary poems and emotionally charged songs not only influenced workers, farmers and marginalised communities, but also articulated their struggles and stood as the very voice of Telangana culture.

He further said that, just as Andesri inspired Telangana society through Jaya Jayahe Telangana, it is well known how Gaddar, through songs like Podusthunna Poddu Meeda, ignited the masses and contributed immensely to the achievement of Telangana statehood. Gaddar dedicated his entire life to singing and dancing for the cause of a separate state.

Bhatti Vikramarka said that after the present government came to power, the manner in which Gaddar was honoured is well known to the people of Telangana. He noted that the Nandi Awards earlier given by the film industry were renamed as the Gaddar Awards. Through the Cultural department, artists such as Pasham Yadagiri, Jayaraju, Guda Anjanna and Gorati Venkanna, who rendered services during the movement, were also recognised. Through their performances, they voiced the aspirations of the people of Telangana, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister reaffirmed that the current government recognises, respects and honours poets and artists of the state.
