Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav held a key meeting with global public health expert Dr. Y.Y. Teo of the National University of Singapore during his ongoing visit to Singapore, focusing on strengthening the state’s healthcare ecosystem to global standards.

During the interaction, the minister outlined the reforms being undertaken by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to modernise healthcare delivery. He highlighted collaborations with global institutions, including partnerships with the Gates Foundation, aimed at improving access and quality of medical services.

The minister emphasised the state’s push towards technology-driven healthcare, noting that Artificial Intelligence is being deployed to enhance diagnostics and patient care. He explained that under the NCD-04 programme, large-scale screening is being conducted to detect oral, breast, and cervical cancers at early stages. Additionally, the government is building comprehensive electronic health records (EHR) to ensure continuity and efficiency in treatment.

A key initiative discussed was the ‘STEMI’ programme, under which life-saving injections for heart attack patients are being provided free of cost during the critical golden hour. The minister said such interventions are aimed at reducing mortality rates and improving emergency response systems.

Seeking global best practices, Satya Kumar Yadav invited Dr. Teo to provide guidance and technical inputs to further strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s healthcare model. He reiterated the government’s commitment to adopting international standards and innovative approaches in public health.

Dr. Teo expressed satisfaction with the state’s initiatives and acknowledged the progress made in integrating technology with healthcare delivery. He is also part of a high-level advisory group constituted by the state government to support policy and system improvements.
