Miles away from the horror territory that has become synonymous with his brand of cinema, director Vikram Bhatt offers what promises to be an intimate and life-like watch titled Tumko Meri Kasam, featuring Anupam Kher, Esha Deol, Adah Sharma, and Ishwak Singh in pivotal roles. The Free Press Journal was in attendance at the trailer launch event in Mumbai. Here are some interesting exchanges between the cast, the director, & the press.

“There’s no choice in love. When you love someone, he has the right to use, misuse, abuse, and use my name. I feel intimate cinema is dying, and Vikram has made a film that looks real and relatable,” said Mahesh Bhatt about his association with Bhatt Junior. “I wouldn’t have been here even after multiple flops had it not been for this man (Bhatt saab), who is my friend, my father, and my mentor. Aur main kya bolu?” said an emotional Vikram.

Anupam Kher maintained that it took him a while to come on board with the Bhatt banner for reasons perhaps best known to the makers. “Maybe he was waiting for a great story to make me a part of it. Now that I have worked with Vikram, I must confess that I will be the horror in his horror film, or I will be the horror in his life,” said Kher and continued.

“I keep asking for work/films even after doing 544 films! Finally, Vikram ji ko akal aa gayi, and he decided to cast me (laughs!). I just met him in the building lobby where I have an office, and now he is my neighbour too. I simply told him, ‘Bhai, kuch kaam do mujhe.’ And I’m glad that I worked in this film because after watching it, Bhatt saab said, ‘Sab kuch sach lag raha hai,’ and in my opinion, that’s what cinema is all about!”

“Working with Anupam Kher is like driving an auto car. You just have to drive along without many instructions, but you do get suggestions,” said Vikram about working with Anupam Kher. Adah Sharma, who made her acting debut with the Bhatt camp, was elated about the reunion. “I debuted with Vikram Bhatt for my film 1920. He treats newcomers like superstars. I believe aspiring actors and newcomers should work with the Bhatts to learn so much, with such nice treatment.”

Esha Deol, who promises to be fierce and feisty with her character in this outing, was all praise and felt fortunate to have worked with the Bhatts, as well as sharing the screen space with Kher. “Anupam Kher is an acting institute. He makes things around you so comfortable; also, he is so tech-savvy and knows a lot more about social media than I could ever do. Thank you for bringing me back on the silver screen after 14 long years. There was a lot of intensity in me that was just waiting to explode!”
