Write to the Government to exclude non-milling traders

The Telangana State Dal Millers Association in a representation to the government requested that the tenders to supply red gram dal be given to local millers of Telangana. In the same vein, the association also requested for the reconsideration of bidders and to exclude non-milling traders. It is informed that several intermediaries were shortlisted or under active consideration.

Leaders of the association stated that dal milling units across Telangana operate as small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) supporting local employment. Allocating government supply contracts to trading entities instead of genuine manufacturing units undermines the local milling industry.

Non-milling traders predominantly procure processed dal from outside the State, which disincentivizes local production and transfers economic value out of Telangana. A member of the Dal Millers Association said that a bid rate of Rs 194.0 per kg submitted by a trader is currently under consideration by the department.

In a representation to the government, the association assured quality as local millers directly control the cleaning, grading, and processing pipeline, ensuring fresh, high graded dal compliant with all food safety standards.

Local dal millers source raw red gram directly from farmers across Telangana’s agricultural markets resulting in local agricultural and industrial eco-system remains economically vibrant and self-sustaining.
