The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the second-phase expansion of three Greenfield ports by sanctioning administrative approval for land acquisition worth Rs 1,638.52 crore, Investment and Infrastructure Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy announced on Tuesday. The decision aims to strengthen the state’s maritime infrastructure and accelerate coastal economic development. The government has approved the acquisition of 6,248.54 acres for the expansion of Ramayapatnam, Mulapeta and Machilipatnam Greenfield Ports.

Of the total allocation, Rs 851 crore has been sanctioned for acquiring 2,924.45 acres for the second phase of the Ramayapatnam Port in SPSR Nellore district. For Mulapeta Port in Srikakulam district, the government approved Rs 440.52 crore to acquire 1,903.39 acres, including salt lands, with the allocation also covering rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) measures.

Meanwhile, Rs 347 crore has been sanctioned for acquiring 1,420.70 acres for the second-phase expansion of the Machilipatnam Greenfield Port. The minister said the expansion projects are designed to meet future cargo handling requirements while strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s position as a major maritime logistics hub on India’s east coast.

In another key decision, the government has allotted 63.01 acres at Chinna Etivakam village in Satyavedu mandal of Tirupati district for establishing an Integrated Logistics Park proposed by Nexus Integrated Logistics Park through the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board. The logistics park will attract an investment of Rs 255 crore and is expected to generate employment for around 1,000 people, further strengthening the state’s logistics and industrial ecosystem.
