The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Monday approved 200 units of free electricity for weavers' households and 500 units for power looms. This initiative is expected to support small-scale weavers, reduce operational costs, and promote the growth of the textile industry in Andhra Pradesh.
The Cabinet also approved an amendment to the Teachers’ Transfer Regulation Act, aimed at streamlining and improving transparency in the teacher transfer process. The new system will ensure fair placements and better distribution of teachers across schools, benefiting students and educators alike.
The long-pending issue of Scheduled Caste (SC) categorization was discussed, with the Cabinet approving the recommendations of the Rajiv Ranjan Mishra Commission. The report, recently submitted to the government, was given the green signal, marking a significant step toward addressing the concerns of different SC sub-groups in the state.
The Cabinet also approved key land allocations for various development projects in the state. The Cabinet Sub-Committee’s recommendations on land allotments in Amaravati were accepted, paving the way for new investments.

In a key administrative decision, the Cabinet approved the renaming of YSR Tadigadapa Municipality to Tadigadapa Municipality. This change is part of the government’s effort to standardize place names and administrative divisions. To enhance media documentation and communication, the Cabinet sanctioned the creation of three new positions for photographers and videographers in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
A major highlight of the meeting was the approval of Rs.37,702 crore worth of tenders under the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) for infrastructure projects in Amaravati. These funds will be used for large-scale construction, with immediate work commencement expected.
The Cabinet also approved investment proposals worth Rs.1,21,659 crore, which are expected to create substantial employment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. A major investment among these is Premier Energies Limited’s Rs.1,742 crore project in Naidupeta, Nellore district, which will boost industrial growth in the region.
The State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) is set to convene its fourth meeting, where additional investment projects will be reviewed. The decisions taken in that meeting will be formally approved in an upcoming Cabinet session.
