AP Govt Rebuilding State ‘Brick by Brick’: Naidu

07-03-2026 12:00:00 AM

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the recently concluded session of the State Legislative Assembly witnessed meaningful discussions aimed at securing the future of five crore people of the state, rather than merely passing legislation.

Addressing the House at the conclusion of the Assembly session, the Chief Minister said the government used the past 15 days of proceedings to deliberate on key policies and reforms that would shape the long-term development of Andhra Pradesh. He noted that while the opposition stayed away from the Assembly, the ruling coalition focused on people-centric governance and decisions that would benefit future generations.

Naidu said Andhra Pradesh continues to face challenges arising from the state’s bifurcation and what he described as the damaging governance of the previous administration. As a result, the current government is working to rebuild the state brick by brick. He said the government had presented a Rs. 3.32 lakh crore budget for the current financial year, aimed at balancing development initiatives with welfare programmes.

The Chief Minister strongly criticized the opposition for staying away from the Assembly and linking their participation to being granted the Leader of Opposition status. “Authority or opposition status comes only through the mandate of the people,” he said, adding that responsible political parties should attend legislative sessions and raise public issues rather than boycott proceedings.

Naidu said the government had overcome several challenges during its first 20 months in office and had successfully implemented the coalition’s “Super Six” welfare promises despite financial constraints. He described the programmes as a major success, asserting that the administration remains committed to delivering both welfare and development simultaneously.

The Chief Minister also accused the previous government of diverting funds under centrally sponsored schemes, which he said weakened several programmes in the state. Citing official data, Naidu said that 85 out of 92 centrally sponsored schemes had been adversely affected due to fund diversion. He highlighted the example of the Jal Jeevan Mission, under which the state was expected to receive Rs. 85,000 crore for providing tap water connections to households.

According to the Chief Minister, the previous administration sent proposals for only Rs. 25,000 crore and ultimately spent merely Rs. 2,500 crore under the scheme. Naidu said the current coalition government has revived the programme and is working to ensure that every household receives piped drinking water, praising Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for taking proactive steps in implementing the initiative.

Concluding his remarks, the Chief Minister said the government remains committed to transparent governance and people-centric policies. “Our efforts to deliver effective governance and build a stronger Andhra Pradesh will continue without pause,” Naidu told the Assembly, reiterating the government’s resolve to secure the state’s long-term economic and social progress.
