AP govt to build 3318 new buildings for Ayushman Arogya Mandirs

The Andhra Pradesh health department has secured approval from the central government for the construction of 3318 new for Ayushman Arogya Mandir buildings at an estimated cost of  Rs.1,065 crores. Addressing the media on Saturday, Minister Satyakumar Yadav presented a detailed report on the state’s healthcare progress since the NDA government came to power one year ago. He called it an year of measurable accountability and systemic reform and lauded frontline healthcare staff and officials for driving what he called qualitative, comparative, and positive transformation across the department.

Highlighting the implementation of over 30 National Health Mission schemes, the minister revealed that the Union Government rewarded the state with a Rs.100 crore incentive, recognizing Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to public health. He took a swipe at the previous administration accusing it underfunding the health department, poor implementation of schemes and diversion of central funds.

On critical care infrastructure, the minister pointed out that only 14 blocks had been sanctioned earlier, whereas the new government added 10 more, spending Rs.62 crore out of Rs 90 crore committed within a year. He added that while only 13 Integrated Public Health Labs were initiated during the previous regime, the NDA government is establishing another 13 in just one year. He also said that over 3,200 modern diagnostic devices have been installed across public hospitals, and pilot doorstep diagnostic services conducting 47 tests via 104 health vehicles are being launched in Kuppam.

As per the minister, the state conducted screenings for over 2.71 crore adults and 58 lakh children for cancers of the mouth, breast, and cervix and health surveys for 58 lakh school children. Also, under the STEMI program 2,650 lives were saved by administering critical heart-attack care  within the “golden hour.” The Health Minister also criticized the previous government’s regime saying that only 14% of Rs.8,400 crore for 17 proposed medical colleges was spent and similarly 17% of Rs.12,000 crore was utilized under the Nadu-Nedu modernization program.
