The Andhra Pradesh government has gone into full alert mode as Cyclone Montha intensifies and moves closer to the state’s coast. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has ordered the release of hourly bulletins and real-time updates to ensure continuous communication with the public and prevent any loss of life or property.

Reviewing the situation with senior officials at the RTGS (Real-Time Governance Society) Centre in Amaravati, the Chief Minister emphasized that the government’s primary goal is “zero casualties and minimum damage.” He directed all departments to maintain uninterrupted communication networks and use satellite phones and mobile towers to ensure connectivity, even in remote or cyclone-hit areas.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Naidu instructed that 3,211 generators be kept ready in 110 mandals to provide power backup to 2,707 village and ward secretariats located in vulnerable regions. “Every minute counts during a disaster. Communication breakdowns can cost lives,” he warned, urging district collectors to monitor rainfall, water inflows, and evacuation operations in real time.

The Chief Minister also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had personally spoken to him over the phone to inquire about the situation and assured full support from the Centre. Naidu entrusted Minister Nara Lokesh with the responsibility of coordinating with the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for immediate assistance and logistical support.
