Andhra Pradesh is poised for a major expansion of its aviation infrastructure, with plans underway to establish seven new airports across the state, Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu announced on the occasion of NTR’s birth anniversary celebrations and a mini Mahanadu event organised by NRI Telugu Desam Party supporters in Los Angeles.

Addressing the gathering virtually from New Delhi, the minister said the state government and the Centre are working together to significantly enhance air connectivity and transform Andhra Pradesh into a key aviation hub in southern India. He revealed that seven new airports are being planned to meet the growing demand for passenger and cargo movement, improve regional connectivity and support the state’s economic growth.

Ram Mohan Naidu also highlighted the rapid progress of the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport, which is expected to become a gateway to North Andhra. He said the greenfield international airport is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July. The project is expected to boost tourism, trade, investment and employment opportunities in the region.

The minister further noted that international air connectivity from Andhra Pradesh is steadily expanding. Direct flight services between Vijayawada and Singapore have already commenced, and efforts are underway to launch new international routes connecting the state with Malaysia, Hong Kong and key Gulf destinations.

According to the minister, strengthening airport infrastructure and expanding global connectivity remain key priorities in the broader vision of positioning Andhra Pradesh as a major investment and business destination in the coming years.
