Hyderabad witnessed a grand road safety initiative as the “Arrive Alive – A Campaign for Road Safety” was organized at Jal Vihar on Saturday morning. The campaign, jointly conducted by Khairatabad and Secunderabad traffic zones, aimed to raise awareness among commuters and reduce road accidents in the state.
The event began at 8 a.m., with Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Hyderabad, Joel Davis, attending as the chief guest, actor Nikhil Siddharth participated as the special guest, while Avinash Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic-1, was present as the guest of honor. The program featured a massive rally of 300 bikers, flagged off by the dignitaries, to emphasize road safety among citizens. Additional officials including DCP Ande Ramulu, ACP S. Mohan Kumar, and A. Srinivas also participated.
Speaking at the event, Joel Davis stressed that all two-wheeler riders must wear ISI-certified helmets, and passengers should also wear helmets without exception. Highlighting last year’s 8,000 road accident fatalities in Telangana, he urged adherence to traffic rules to prevent further loss of life. Avinash Kumar advised parents not to allow children below 18 to operate vehicles and emphasized that driving should be done only with proper licenses and skills.
Nikhil Siddharth reinforced that road safety is not only the responsibility of the police but of every citizen. He urged especially young people to act responsibly on roads to minimize accidents.
The program drew around 1,000 participants, including traffic personnel, NCC students, and members of the CRT Bike Riders Association, making it a successful awareness drive for Hyderabad’s roads.
