Keeping the 2029 Lok Sabha elections in perspective, the BJP is planning to reach out to Gen Z and get them on their side. The party is strategizing to overhaul its old campaigns with a clear plan for attracting youth. The party is planning to hold meetings to understand the aspirations, problems and opinions of the new generation.

Keeping the 2029 Lok Sabha elections in mind, the BJP is completely overhauling its strategy. In particular, the party’s national leadership is preparing a new roadmap targeting Gen Z. According to information, the national leadership has given clear directions to state leaders that party programmes, language and campaign style must all be designed to appeal to the new generation of youth. This time the BJP has strongly focused on young voters. In the 2024 elections, the party’s support among first-time voters aged 18 and Gen Z voters did not match its expectations. That is why, with the slogan that Gen Z is not just a vote bank but future partners, the BJP will try to bring them closer.

The party wants to directly understand the aspirations of the new generation of youth, their problems, their expectations about the future, their views on politics, the influence of social media, and similar issues. It is learnt that in a recent meeting in Delhi between party national president Nitin Nabin and Prime Minister Modi, it was suggested that party movements and activities should be designed to attract Gen Z. If necessary, Narendra Modi himself may even enter the fray for this purpose.  They will decide the wins and losses!

Until now, Congress and other opposition parties have tried to attract Gen Z by raising issues such as youth, unemployment and paper leaks. Now the BJP is also set to adopt the same approach. In the 2029 battle, it is Gen Z voters who will decide the wins and losses. That is why the party is shaping its action plan to get closer to them. All leaders have been directed to work in line with the aspirations of Gen Z. The BJP initially strongly opposed the movement taken up by Gen Z in Delhi. Sensing the damage early, the RSS issued a statement in their support. After the RSS intervention, the BJP leadership also stepped back and accepted the students’ demands. The party is now making moves to get closer to Gen Z without alienating them. 

New programmes for the youth

BJP president Nitin Nabin has advised the state leadership to continuously strengthen relations with the youth. In the coming days, aspects such as bringing youth into the party and organising special programmes for them should be taken up, it is learnt. Special teams will be formed with senior party leaders across the country. The BJP is preparing plans to reach the youth more effectively nationwide. It is learnt that the BJP will soon launch a Gen Z Outreach programme to interact directly and continuously with the youth.

Through this programme, the party will focus on understanding the aspirations, problems, opinions and future expectations of the new generation of youth. A platform will also be provided for youth to speak directly with BJP leaders and share their problems and views. The BJP believes that through discussions, mutual meetings and other programmes, the party’s connect with young voters should be further strengthened. The main objectives of this programme will be to build direct relationships with youth across the country, understand their thoughts and problems, and increase youth participation in party activities.
