Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed all government departments to work in close coordination to ensure the successful and prestigious conduct of the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu, while simultaneously transforming the Godavari region through long-term infrastructure development.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat on the Akhanda Godavari Development Project and Pushkaralu preparations, the Chief Minister said the state government intends to complete the long-pending Polavaram Project before the commencement of the 2027 festival and dedicate it to the nation. He instructed officials to incorporate the suggestions made by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan during his recent field visits and ensure that all development works serve the region beyond the religious event.

Chandrababu emphasised that infrastructure created for Pushkaralu should become a permanent asset for the Godavari basin districts. He called for the development of Rajamahendravaram into a major urban centre and stressed the need for lasting improvements in roads, sanitation, drinking water supply and public amenities.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that the Godavari flows for nearly 212 kilometres through Andhra Pradesh and that preparations are being planned across six districts, Polavaram, Eluru, East Godavari, West Godavari, Konaseema and Kakinada. The government has proposed a total of 525 Pushkar ghats, including the modernization of 288 existing ghats and the construction of 237 new ghats. The first Pushkar ghat is planned at Gundala in Polavaram district, while major terminal ghats are proposed at Antarvedi, Balusutippa, Govalanka and Narsapuram.
